We will never be the same again. The Jamaican church may not have the wealth of this world, but they have the wealth of Heaven that made me desire a closer walk with the Lord.
We were hosted by Fishers of Men, a mission organization started by Brother Ronnie Trent, who in conjunction with Bishop Mattis of the Jamaican Church of God of Prophecy stretched a tent on a football (soccer) field outside of Ocho Rios.
During the 10 days that we were there preaching and singing we were blessed to see 73 souls come forward for salvation and see the Church of Jamaica encouraged. We also traveled into the mountains and preached on the streets of a small village whose Pastor was Brother David Lynch (his children are in the picture to the left) on Saturday and then preached in his Church on Sunday morning.
My heart is now connected with the people of Jamaica. I see a glorious Church there, but I'm staggered by the need of a nation torn between the occult and Christ. From the Jehovah's Witness to the Rastafari, this young nation is being pulled away from the true message of hope in Christ. As I walked through the markets and streets telling of Christ I was received well by most and with anger by a few. One day while witnessing to a young man in the market, a vendor of a nearby booth rushed by me trying to knock me down. She was a Jehovah's Witness enraged by the fact that I was telling the young man about Jesus, the Son of God.
The last two days the devil was stirred up. We had had a breakthrough in the services and hell and his servants had no problem letting us know that they hated us. On our last Tuesday we were constantly being forced to swerve while driving to avoid accidents until Sonja caught on and sternly rebuked the devil. When she did our problems on the road were finished. The next day though it looked as if we were not going to be able to get anything to eat. We went to two restaurants, one the waitress had so much evil hatred in her eyes and language toward us that we left, the next simply refused to serve us. I think the devil hates us in America, but he despises us when we go to Jamaica.
